History Intel and AMD
Most often Intel is customary to compare with AMD, as with the second largest player in the market. So, for example, Intel has developed the first chip on the architecture of the X86 in 1978, but not able to satisfy market demand and in the protection of antitrust measures, the Intel had to open a license for production for the AMD.
Next, Intel and AMD became the main players in the market of personal computers and servers,
The gap in the production of chips on the X86 architecture between AMD and Intel was until recently significant, while the AMD did not transfer a part of the production of its new generation of Taiwanese TSMC processors under the technical process in 7HM, bypassing Intel with its 107 chips and pushing it on the market.
By the end of the first quarter of 2020, AMD occupied 19.30% in the X86 market for PC, 70 points higher than the previous year and 8% of the second quarter in the X86 market for servers, rising from 5% from the end of the fourth quarter of 2019.
However, despite the difficulties that Intel is experiencing lately, this is still one of the largest producers of chips.
Therefore, while Intel continues to dominate the server market, and still takes 60% of the global X8 processor market.
At the same time there are risks that should be considered when considering Intel.
